ISIOLO COUNTY SECRETARY COMMISSIONS BANK'S ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR NEEDY STUDENTS 

It is every parent's dream that their children continue to the Highest level education especially after performing exceptionally well in National examinations. But this is not the case for many bright children that come from humble backgrounds. It is against this backdrop that Isiolo County secretary Dr. Ahmed Galgalo today presided over the commissioning of 98 bright needy students for the 2021 Equity Group Wings to Fly and Elimu Scholarship program.

 
During the ceremony, a total of 23 Wings to fly and 75 Elimu scholarships were awarded. This year's beneficiaries are among 637 applicants who were subjected to a thorough and rigorous selection exercise, done by the local Community selection Board (CSSBS) for the Wings to fly Scholarship and the Community Scholarship Advisory Board (CSAC) for Elimu Scholarship. Tailored to be comprehensive scholarships, both scholarships specifically cover; tuition fees, books, uniforms, transport cost, and pocket money for the four year period they will be in respective secondary schools.

 
During the commissioning, Dr. Galgalo advised the selected scholars to grab the opportunity and make the best out of it, noting that several other learners had also performed well in their KCPE and applied for the same scholarships but were not unsuccessful.

 
"I want to challenge all of you that have today recieved scholarships not to lose focus when you join secondary school but to continue working hard to in the future realize your dreams. Be reminded that they are others that had also done well but were not as fortunate as you to recieve scholarships," Dr. Galgalo Said adding that other commercial banks and corporates should emulate the gesture by Equity bank and initiate similar programs that have a huge and transformative impact in the society.

 
He also lauded the selection board that came up with a list of the 98 most needy applicants for a transparent and thorough job, noting that all the applicants are needy cases which makes the selection exercise tasking.
