Computerized Tomography (CT) scan

A computerized tomography (CT) scan combines X-ray images from different angles around your body. It uses computer processing to create cross-sectional images (slices) of the bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues inside your body. CT scan images provide more detailed information than plain X-rays do. This has already been installed and functioning at Isiolo county teaching and referral hospital (ICTRH)

X-Ray - Radiography Medical Imaging

X-ray radiography: Detects bone fractures, certain tumors, other abnormal masses, pneumonia, some types of injuries, calcifications, foreign objects, or dental problems. this radiography medical imaging equipment was installed at the Isiolo county teaching and referral hospital and Garbatulla Subcounty Hospital which is fully functional.

COUNTY GOVERNMENT'S INTERVENTION IN RESTORATION OF EYE SIGHT THROUGH CORRECTIVE SURGERY IN ISIOLO.

COURTESY OF AIC HEALTH MINISTRIES, CBM GLOBAL IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF ISIOLO.

siolo County Governor H.E Abdi Ibrahim Hassan's commitment to improving eye health for residents has yielded positive results. This week, approximately 200 families in Cherab and Chari wards of Merti Sub County are receiving essential eye care services right at their doorsteps, thanks to a collaborative effort supported by the Isiolo County Government's Department of Health, AIC Health Ministry, and Christian Blind Mission (CBM) Global. The free eye clinic, hosted at Merti Sub County Hospital and running until the end of the week, has already seen several successful eye surgeries performed. Isiolo County Chief Officer in charge of Public Health, who also serves as the acting Chief Officer in charge of Medical Services Bisharo Hassan reported that 76 patients have already undergone eye surgery since the clinic's commencement. Bisharo explained, "Our department, in partnership with AIC Health Ministry and CBM, has conducted door-to-door eye screenings in Cherab and Chari. After identifying those in need, we organized this one-week surgery exercise to ensure patients receive the best possible treatment." She added that the screening efforts in the Merti division are ongoing, with the aim of benefiting at least 200 patients by the end of the week. Similar initiatives have been successfully conducted in Oldonyiro, and according to officials, this exercise is set to be extended throughout the entire county.
The Isiolo County Government has provided substantial support for the program, offering human resource, medicines, food, and logistical assistance, including transportation from patients' homes to Merti Sub county Hospital for surgery and their return trips, for those from far flung areas.
Isiolo County Director of Medical Services, Abdi Boru, highlighted that most patients undergoing surgery have cataract problems, with a few cases of pterygium.
This initiative's success is largely attributed to the collaborative spirit fostered by Governor Ibrahim Hassan, resulting in a three-year project known as the Priority Inclusive Delivery of Eye Health (PRIDE) with CBM and AIC Health Ministry. This project aims to provide free eye treatment to Isiolo residents suffering from various eye conditions. Residents who have benefited from these services expressed their gratitude and lauded Governor Ibrahim Hassan for his timely intervention that has provided a huge sigh of relief for them, restoring their sight. Mohammed Abduba from Merti town was particularly thankful after his 80-year-old mother successfully underwent eye surgery. He exclaimed, "I have been struggling to help my mum get the much needed corrective surgery as she couldn't see me while we spoke. Today, I am very excited because the operation was successful, and I didn't have to spend a single coin for this crucial procedure." Abduba and other residents remain optimistic that Governor Hassan will continue to transform the lives of Isiolo residents by implementing more development projects, with special attention to healthcare. Abdia Huka from Saleti, a mother of three, lauded the leadership of the County Government of Isiolo for creating a conducive environment for development partnerships and fostering progressive collaboration. She emphasized that this collaboration has led to improved service delivery and an enhanced quality of life for Isiolo residents. She concluded, "If not for the excellent collaboration initiated by our Governor, my 12-year-old son wouldn't have received treatment after living with cataracts for five years." The Isiolo County Government's dedication to eye health and the success of this initiative serve as a shining example of how collaboration and commitment can positively impact the lives of residents, especially in distant areas.
