Shaba National Reserve has a particular place in the history of Kenyan game conservation, as it was in this reserve that the authoress Joy Adamson died. She was greatly known for her efforts in the rehabilitation of the compliant leopard into a wild environment.
Shaba was one of Joy Adamson’s greatest African loves; it was in this tranquil wilderness where she released the first hand-raised lions.
CAMEL SAFARIS
Take a ride of a lifetime as you view the scenic Shaba landscape, on the back of this desert mammal under the guidance of an experienced ranger. It’s a trip down a rugged, exciting road creating memories so fond you will want to come back!
VISIT TO TRADITIONAL SAMBURU VILLAGE
Get to visit the Samburu village and watch the beautifully beaded and decorated Samburu Morans performing cultural dances and songs. A resident culturalist will be there to talk more on the culture and traditions of the Samburu community.
BORN FREE
‘Born Free Country’ home to the legend of the great conservation couple, George & Joy Adamson, after whose lives the movies “Born Free” and “To Walk With Lions” were modelled after and dedicated to. Sarova Shaba Lodge is situated in the heart of ‘Born Free Country’ otherwise known as Shaba Game Reserve.
SURVIVOR CHALLENGE TEAM BUILDING
Teambuilding has come a long way. Teams are being pushed to the limit in the new global economy. Teams are being built and rebuilt faster than any other time in our history.
Training programmes are taking the place of the old teach me, tell me, test me training model the managers of last decade knew and hated. People, teams and companies have to operate at their full potential or they will not be able to compete effectively even just to survive.
Terms like comfort zone, out of the box, experiential learning, adventure learning, learn by doing, adventure based training, team learning, change management, change agent, group development, individual development, and so on were foreign few decades ago but are now part of a corporate revolution that you are not exempt from.
Sarova Shaba Game Lodge offers the “Survivor Challenge”, a concept that helps teams achieve their objectives in a setting where experiences help forge the team’s way forward and a new focus. Teams are put to task in the vast gorges by a well-trained facilitator who will ensure that with fun and life challenges, teams come out of the training stronger and having achieved their goals.
SHABA SPECIAL FIVE
Sarova Shaba is the only lodge in the Shaba National Reserve, sited in a perfect spot on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. This river attracts a profusion of game – large herds of elephants, the elusive leopard, as well as species particular to the north like the gerenuk (a kind of deer), Beisa oryx and the reticulated giraffe. It is also home to many crocodiles, and our guests can have the thrill of watching them crawl out onto the banks to feed on the food thrown to them by our staff.
SCENIC VIEWS & EWASO NYIRO
Sarova Shaba Game Lodge is built around a natural breathtaking terrain attractively laid out with Chalet style rooms that have views of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Natural spring water has been harnessed to ribbon its way in and out, all around the property creating a beautiful ambiance for the lodge that you have to see to believe it.
